Martijn Groen (1970) plays drums in The Mirror Conspiracy. He currently lives with his wife and son in Leiden. Martijn studied at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood (USA) where he got classes from drummers like Joe Porcaro and Ralph Humphrey. Afterwards he studied Jazz at the conservatory of Amsterdam. Outside his music, he is a teacher at his own bandcoaching course Klasseband, board member of the Leidse Vereniging van Popmuzikanten (LVP) and facilitator at ‘Art in Rhythm’. Martijn also plays drums for the nu-jazz big band Licks and Brains and finds inspiration in artists like Stewart Copeland, Jack deJohnette, Massive Attack, pop music but also French chansons.
